Deku vs Asta was absolutely terrible

Number 16. Raven vs Phoenix seems to be the universal choice for worst episode in the season and I hate to be a sheep, but I definitely agree. Even with how little investment I have in Killua vs Misaka, it still had more going on than this episode. The analysis was easily the weakest one that we got all season with the only thing that impressed me all that much being the jokes surprisingly. I guess you could say this was the inverse of Lex vs Doom analysis wise. Now as for the fight, I had a pretty similar experience to Nemesis. When it first came out I was so blown away by the visuals that I ignored how dull the actual content of the fight was, but now that the recency bias has worn off I don't think this fight gets above being decent. It honestly peaked at the preview way more than Megatron vs Frieza if you ask me. The fight felt like it was on track to match Black Adam vs Apocalypse in terms of cape-shit fights and it had the exact kind of speed and intensity that I was hoping the fight would at the very least start with. Unfortunately it falls off big time after Raven's "genjutsu" which had a similar problem to the rest of the fight's choreography. The choreography felt very similar to Sasuke vs Hiei in the sense that things just kinda happen as if they are on a checklist and there isn't any creativity or cleverness to anything and the connective tissue is almost nonexistent. The "genjutsu" scene just kinda happens out of nowhere and then immediately ends without the cool payoff of Kakashi's all the way back in season 7. The scene of them trying to mind control each other looks really goofy and dumb for a fight that should feel intense and hard and then the fight just kinda devolves into mindless colors as the two just stand around and show off like Scarlet Witch vs Zatanna. The transformations feel like they are on a checklist of mandated things and take up basically the entire choreography. Thankfully the action improves in space and we get an amazing shot of the Phoenix Force, but the planetary destruction felt the most fake out of any episode in the series and it isn't even close. The planets feel more like bowling balls and it takes a lot away from what should be a really awesome sequence. Then the fight goes back to that same checklist choreography as we get more transformations and the White Hot Room which felt like they were there out of obligation rather than because they had any unique or interesting ideas for them. At least the death looks really awesome. Overall this episode doesn't do much for me aside from the visuals and a few cool sequences towards the very beginning, middle, and end. The analysis is decent but nothing special and the fight lacked any interesting progression since things just kinda happen as if they are on a checklist without the exciting choreography and creative writing that the vast majority of episodes this season had or even the exhilaration and stimulation of an episode like Vegito vs Gogeta. Thanos vs Darkseid is still the best Marvel vs DC reality warper fight and it isn't even close in my opinion. 6/10 Number 15. Killua vs Misaka is pretty much the equivalent of Roshi vs Jiraiya for season 10. They're both niche anime matchups that were initially pretty forgotten compared to the other episodes around them, but after their seasons ended everyone hyped them up as being hidden masterpieces that were easily a highlight of their respective seasons. But similarly to how I felt Roshi vs Jiraiya was really overhyped, I don't really get what's so special about this episode either. I might be biased since I don't really care about anime as a genre, especially these two, but I thought this was one of the most average episodes of the season by far. The analysis was pretty good, definitely one of the better analysis segments for an anime matchup that I don't care about since I was way more invested here than I was in Asta or Tanjiro's analysis. The fight was also good and the choreography had a lot more to it than Raven vs Phoenix. Unfortunately it has the complete opposite problem of Raven vs Phoenix as the sprite rigging in this episode was honestly pretty bad at points and stuff like the fight on the side of the building which I would've otherwise loved was ruined by how stiff the posing and movement was. It genuinely perplexes me when people rank this episode above so many other better ones this season when it has the worst puppet rigging in the show since Rock Lee vs Sanji. The kaiju at the end was amazing thankfully and I love the shot of Killua in the air with the giant snake. Overall this episode is technically good aside from the bad sprite rigging for Misaka, but it's not that captivating for me personally and it's not the kinda thing that I'd go out of my way to rewatch. Sorry guys but it's not really for me, 6.5/10. Number 14. Martian Manhunter vs Silver Surfer is probably the most divisive episode of the season. Half the community thinks it's a subversive and brilliant masterpiece while the other half thought it was boring and pretentious. Personally I fall in the middle because I thought this episode had a lot of great stuff, but as a whole I don't think it's as clever as people say it is and it's easily the most disappointing episode of the season for me. The analysis was thankfully one of the many great things about this episode as I was really invested all the way through (especially for Martian Manhunter), the visual gags and editing were great, and it was a lot more in depth than usual. The fight starts and ends really strongly as I love the Twilight Zone vibe of the set up. I wish the entire fight had a more grainy, comic book look to it, but I'm glad the whole thing wasn't black and white as that would've been way too far in my opinion. The ending also went really hard in terms of character and emotion. It didn't quite get the same response out of me that it did for everyone else, but I still thought it was great and a very pleasant surprise. What was not a pleasant surprise was how boring and pretty much nonexistent the actual fight was. I know the defenders of this episode would probably use the excuse of the characters being pacifist for how boring the actual fighting was, but at that point why even bother doing the matchup. I know the character moments of Death Battle are what people have been praising them for the most lately, but I still go to the show to see characters fight more than anything else and this episode didn't really give me that aside from everything involving Manhunter's dragon form. That entire sequence was amazing and if the whole fight gave us more of the two using their powers in unpredictable and badass ways rather than chasing each other like a bunch of school children then it would've been an amazing episode. The entire chase section of the fight felt super repetitive and despite how much praise this episode gets for being creative and unique, it felt like they couldn't come up with anything cool for them to do power-wise and they just resorted to making Flash vs Quicksilver 2.0 instead for some reason. As a whole, the fight felt very over reliant on gimmicks and while the gimmick of this episode was still really cool, I don't think it was as smart as people say it is and I don't think it made this entire episode a masterpiece due to how lame the actual fight was. If the entire fight was as boring and creatively bankrupt as the chase scene and the episode a Nightwing vs Daredevil tier analysis along with it's honestly kinda weak conclusion that doesn't explain the Power Cosmic, then it would've been a 4/10 since I got less than the bare minimum for a Marvel vs DC flying brick fight. Thankfully the great analysis, set-up, climax, and the one really cool moment of action elevate this episode to around a mid-low 7/10. Number 13. Rocket Raccoon vs Stitch is easily the most overrated episode of the season in my opinion. Not because it was disappointing like Surfer vs Manhunter, but more so because the characters don't appeal to me as much as Po, SpongeBob, The Doctor, or others from Death Battle's more character and comedy focused fights. For what this episode is I actually think they knocked it out of the park and gave me everything I wanted even if more laidback fights like this are not usually all-time favorites for me. The analysis was really solid and had some good jokes which was essential for this matchup. The fight all throughout is simple and fun but none of it really had me on the edge of my seat and the fight did feel really short, but thankfully its biggest strength comes in the comedy and capturing the spirit of both characters in absurd ways. Overall I don't really have a ton to say about this fight since there weren't many stand-out moments and none of the action had me on the edge of my seat, but it's a pretty great time overall that doesn't have anything major holding it back. If anything this episode reminds me a lot of Wario vs King Dedede and even Mario vs Sonic 2. It's a funny episode that I always enjoy watching but nothing about it really blew my mind. I also felt like they wanked the characters but that's more of a side effect of Death Battle's rules. Probably the lowest 8/10 I've ever given aside from Mario vs Sonic 2 and Batman vs Spider-Man.

As a former fan of Death Battle, I will say there were some fights I loved liked Akuma vs Shao Kahn, Samurai Jack vs Afro Samurai, Broly vs Hulk, Jinx vs Harley Quinn, and a couple more, but that’s pretty much it. “Accuracy” and “scaling” aside, I can’t exactly say Death Battle is good at making these fights, as well as researching and using common sense when it comes to them. Outside of GvS for a moment, this applies to a lot of their fights where they either half-assed the research and quality, as well as doing both at the same time where the quality is just poor for the budget they were given for each video. They either use crappy 3D graphics or sprites, which is just lazy, because even someone like Devil Artemis, who is a professional animator, can animate better, and have even hired him to animate a couple of their fights, which were great for quality, and the research for those were ok too. Now onto GvS3, the fight looked absolutely stunning, by far one of their best videos, the quality and the models they used, while their models were from other existing games, looked and worked really well for the fight, absolutely one of their best looking fights where the budget was actually used, and I love it for that reason alone. Now, for the research side of that fight, and it reminded me why I stopped liking Death Battle, was very lazy, and it pretty just devalued the battle as a whole. Regardless of who should have or anyone thinks should have won that fight, as it’s not the purpose of this comment at all, it’s very apparent that Death Battle simply did this for the views, and it shows, as they’ve done this with many of their fights over the past many years. I really do hope to like Death Battle again one day if they ever decide to come back, I hope that they actually put care into their fights as they’ve done with the best qualities of some of their fights, as I’m aware their company Rooster Teeth was owned by Warner Bros but they shut RT down, thus leaving Death Battle in the wind. For anyone who still likes Death Battle, you have my undying respect for tolerating the nonsense they’ve been doing for these past years, even though very minor, the fights of Death Battle that were good should have been more consistent for me to keep liking it, the quality as well as the research are what kept me engaged, and they kept dropping that ball too many times for me to just excuse them. And while I don’t agree with the video in the slightest, I can’t deny the effort that was put into it for making it, I’ll still leave a like for the quality alone, talking about something I don’t like in a video like this isn’t gonna make me hate it. Keep up the good work, Biff Weed, this platform needs more people like you on it.

Also, a big reference in Spongebob vs. Aquaman's fight with the photorealistic mouth is known as "Syncro-Vox," which was widely used in shows like Super Friends for budgetary or limited technology reasons

I think Galactus vs unicron's dialogue/ character interactions would have worked better if Galactus seemed remorseful or reluctant to destroy earth in the beginning, and the Unicron is just trying to destroy earth for the fun of it, causing Galactus to get angry because he doesnt have a choice but genocide worlds in order to survive, but unicron does it just because he actively enjoys killing. Maybe play off that for the reasoning for the fight and maybe Galactus realizes if he absorbs/eats Unicron, it might satiate him enough to not need to eat planets anymore.

The improvements in Death Battle's storytelling far outclass their improvements in the technical categories in my eyes, and seasons 9 and 10 have so many perfect examples of that. Magsuo, Spongequaman, Billcord, and Goku vs Superman 3 all stand out, but that's just off the top of my head

Happy to see the "Goku VS Superman 3 is the real season finale" mindset is taking over the community.

From James Bond vs. John Wick, my favorite scene was the "smoke" break scene, where Bond explains that Wick's reputations is too dangerous for him to left alive, but Bond tells him "He'll be sure to keep up", his way of saying that he is a worthy rival.

Fun fact: Supposedly (i'm getting this from the wiki so i'm not completely sure.) Gojo's english dub voice actor was actually Jack's actor on samurai jack vs afro samurai, so they included it there as a little reference along with the fact that the animator for that episode also animated courage vs scooby, so a sort of double reference

My opinion (I'll factor in the whole episode): Harley vs Jinx - The Mirror Maze (Easily one of the coolest and most chilling scenes in any 3D Death Battle and it does something stylistically that no other 3D fights have done by implementing hand drawn elements) Scarlet Witch vs Zatanna - The Superman Punch (Hot take, but this felt like the only moment in the fight that truly gave me what I wanted. The two using their magic in creative and badass ways to harm each other like Bill Cipher and Discord rather than just standing around and making a bunch of mindless colors.) Tanjiro vs Jonathan Joestar - The Sunlight Yellow Overdrive (One of the most intense final attacks of the season) Vegeta vs Thor - Thor's fake out death (Everything about this sequence from the amazing final flash to the hand drawn shot of Thor refusing to go down makes this one of the absolute best comebacks in the series) Omniman vs The Homelander - Homelander's death (When Omniman said "I'm going to feed you your own heart" in the sneak peek, that got me ready for one of the most horrifying deaths in the entire show. I can safely say that this is the third best death in the whole show.) Magneto vs Tetsuo - Magneto's mercy kill (Although it's not crazy and bombastic like Omniman's kill, it is still one of the most characterful deaths in all of Death Battle) Hercules vs Sun Wukong - The three-headed Wukong fight (Along with Hercules' line, the actual fight is really cool and well choreographed too) Boba Fett vs The Predator - The staff fight (Very fast paced and well choreographed compared to the two swinging energy swords like gorillas at the end) Excalibur vs Raiden - Wiz and Boomstick arguing before the fight (One of the rare moments where the analysis has a moment more memorable and funny than anything in the actual fight) James Bond vs John Wick - The knife fight (After the fight had been fairly lowkey up to this point, I really feel like it picked up here and gave us one of the coolest set pieces in a grounded Death Battle like this) Black Adam vs Apocalypse - Giant Apocalypse (He's so goddamn cool!) Silver vs Trunks - Super Saiyan God Trunks' beatdown (One of the rawest moments in any sprite fight) SpongeBob vs Aquaman - Hyper realistic Aquaman (One of the funniest jokes in any Death Battle animation) Jason Voorhees vs Michael Myers - Michael's death (At least we got a really cool kill even though the actual fight sucked) Sauron vs Lich King - The stare down between the Eye of Sauron and the Eye of Acherus (Everything about this sequence from the visuals, to the cinematography, to the score makes this possibly the most cinematic scene in all of Death Battle) Deku vs Asta - Deku's 1 million percent (The voice acting here was truly amazing) Gogeta vs Vegito - The Meteor Explosion (One of the most stunning shots in all of Death Battle and the music makes it even better) Ant-Man vs The Atom - Atom's death (Very creative and brutal) Chosen Undead vs Dragonborn - The buildup to the final clash (The actual clash was still great yet it somehow got surpassed by how amazing the buildup was) Killua vs Misaka - The kaiju (Really awesome and not held back by any janky animation) Rocket Raccoon vs Stitch - Stitch's foul mouth (Easily the funniest gag in the episode) Darth Vader vs Obito - Vader catching the Chakara ball (Insanely raw shot. The ending gave it a really strong run for its money, but it's held back a little by the uncanny faces) Phoenix vs Raven - The first clash between the soul self and the Phoenix force (This sequence in the sneak peek gave me really high hopes, but its a shame the rest of the choreography was held back by either feeling weightless or just being non-existent) Guts vs Dimitri - "I'll kill them, all of them, DOWN TO THE LAST ONE!" (This scene was perfectly done) Martian Manhunter vs Silver Surfer - Martian Manhunter's death (Not worth making the actual fight about as generic and dull as it gets, but still a really unique and impactful ending) Bill Cipher vs Discord - The entire ending (I could've gone with the entire animation, but this ending is perfect in every single way) Cole vs Alex - The final clash (This entire fight is one of the most exciting battles in the whole series, but this moment takes the cake) Megatron vs Frieza - Frieza exploding Cybertron (Absolutely stunning sequence) Gojo vs Makima - The Domain Expansion (See the previous entry) Scooby-Doo vs Courage - Scooby going god mode (I would've never expected this fight to go as hard as this) Rick Sanchez vs The Doctor - The fight at the Blips and Chitz arcade (Everything about this part of the fight made me happier than almost anything in the season) Galactus vs Unicron - The final clash among the galaxy clusters (The most visually stunning scene in the entire show.) Goku vs Superman 3 - The aftermath (This is my favorite scene from my favorite episode in all of Death Battle and it felt like the perfect way to end this. For how much of a toxic cesspool the Goku vs Superman debate is, something about it all culminating in the final shot here gives me feelings that no other Death Battle has even come close to replicating and it really makes this episode feel like a tribute to the genre of versus debating. Also what I was doing at the time was pretty relevant to the themes that I have gathered from this episode so that makes what is already my favorite shot in all of Death Battle hit even harder. I could probably talk about this episode for a whole hour honestly.)

I think my favorite part of Frieza Vs Megatron was Megatron's absolute chilling monologue after Frieza damages Cybertron's core. The change from violent rage and anger to cold, calm, and venomous is terrifying.

I might as well mention a highlight of mine from season 10 here. In Galactus versus Unicron, the part where they both grow incredibly giant that galaxies collapse in their wake stands out to me. And them speaking in rhymes gives me life. Unicron is fully declaring what he is, an unstoppable force of evil that seeks nothing but destruction. Galactus on the other hand, exclaims that he will do everything in his power to destroy that evil for good, because he still retains his humanity even after becoming one of, if not, THE most powerful entity in the Marvel Universe imaginable. Plus, it's just fun to recite those rhymes, so what do you want from me?

Goku VS Supermans final scene really emphasized their character development throughout the fight and i appreciate it alot for that. Goku having given it his all, isn’t sad he lost the fight, if anything he’s happy he has even more room to train and get stronger. A fight he will always strive to beat. Superman having helped out a new friend in testing his limits, while also showing how much he has to hold back to protect the ones he loves. Its just beautiful.

As someone who doesnt mind animation quality being lessened alot (with some exceptions) I like stories and some cool fights and season two did not disappoint with again more amazing writing hilarious jokes. And tropes that I find alot of flaws in done to perfection. King is a character thats very hard to make work imo. But hes one of my favorites with his development and jokes. Honestly i cant blame monsters for being scared of him. If i met him and i heard the king engine and saw that terrifying face. Id be scared as well!

Finally got to watch OPM after binging jujutsu kaisen and I love it so far.

With Henry vs Tsc now with Animation vs physics the debate has become MUCH closer then before cause now its not just "Henry takes the AP and hax advantage" (i think the black hole feat from AvP puts Tsc at planet level while Henry physically is at best multi-continental) But despite all that i still think henry takes it. Both are more consistently at the Ftl-Ftl+ range in base and super forms. (Both have Mftl+ and immeasurable arguments but they all are a bit inconsistent and have holes in them so i dont use them.) and while Tsc is more skilled and a better fighter then Henry, Henry just has to many reliable wincons and good ways to end the fight so I think he takes it.
